When is Sydney Games Festival?
The festival runs from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October 2026. Individual events have their own dates and times. Check the program when planning your visit.
Where is the festival located?
Held at various venues across Sydney, NSW, Australia, each event chooses what best suits them. There is no single festival venue. Check the location and Event details link for each listing in the program before you travel.

What is Sydney Games Festival?
Sydney Games Festival is a week-long program of events created by a coalition of Sydney’s games communities. Together, these groups bring independently produced events into one coordinated, city-wide festival celebrating games and the people who make, support and play them.
Who is organising the festival?
Sydney Games Festival is coordinated by people from Sydney’s games communities. Participating organisations run their own events. Meet the organisations involved and the people named in the festival credits.
Do I need a ticket, and are events free?
Booking and prices are set by each event organiser. In the program, use an event’s Event details link to check whether you need to register or buy a ticket, and what it costs. If a listing says Details TBA, check back as the organiser confirms its plans.
Are kids allowed?
Some events may welcome children and young people, while others may have age or supervision requirements. Check the organiser’s event details before booking. If the requirements are unclear, contact the organiser. The audience filters in the program are not age ratings.
Is the festival accessible?
Events take place at different venues and are run by different organisers, so access arrangements vary. Check the organiser’s event details through the program for venue information and any accessibility details. If that information is missing, ask the organiser or contact the festival team. Our Code of Conduct asks organisers to share accessibility information and provide a way to request reasonable adjustments.
Can I host an event or get involved?
Yes! If you’re organising a games event, use the Register Your Event form to propose it for the festival program. To volunteer, partner with us or help in another way, use the Get involved form.
Is the festival for industry or the public?
Both! The festival program includes events for players, makers and learners. Our goal is to include everyone who loves games of any type! Use the audience filters to find events that interest you, then check each organiser’s event details for any entry requirements.
Can I showcase a game or be a speaker at an event?
Each event organiser manages its own speakers, showcases and applications. Follow the Event details link on an event in the program to look for those opportunities and the process, or contact the festival team if you are unsure whom to approach.
Will there be games?
Yes! The festival celebrates games of all types, including screen (digital) and tabletop (non-digital), through independently run events. Explore the program to find opportunities to play, make, learn about and experience games.
How can I hear about new events and updates?
Check the program for the current schedule, or join the mailing list for festival news, announcements and program updates.
What if I have a safety or conduct concern at an event?
Tell the relevant event organiser using the reporting process for that event. If contacting the organiser would be unsafe or inappropriate, or the response has been inadequate, contact the festival team. See the Code of Conduct for the full reporting process.
